Canby Swimmers finish last dual meet with Senior Night

Canby hosted West Linn for their last dual meet.  The scores were a bit lopsided but the racing was good and the meet was highlighted by honoring Senior’s from Canby and West Linn.  Team scores were women West Linn 110, Canby 60, West Linn men 123, Canby 47.  It wasn’t a big surprise at West Linn has the top boys team in the district and their girls have a few really good swimmers.  During the break after the 50 free West Linn honored their seniors as they do not have a home pool.  After they were finished Canby honored our seven seniors:  JP Phan, Kira Goepferd, Hagen Barus, Nina Tshopp, Thijs Peperkamp, Lauren Crum and Bjorn Laitinen.  It was exciting and a bit sad at the same time.

Canby had some good swimming lead by Mairen Chard who finished 1st in the 200 free (2:04.72) and 1st in the 500 free (5:38.93). Both were closely contested races. Conner DeRisio finished 3rd in the 500 free. Hunter DeRisio was 3rd in the 100 IM and 100 free. Halana Crispin swam to 3rd place in the 100 fly. Thomas Diggles finished 3rd in the 100 breaststroke. Kira Goepferd was 2nd in the 200 IM (2:30.89) and 3rd in the 500 free. Kylie Hester was 2nd in the 50 free (26.38) and 3rd in the 100 back. Bjorn Laitinen was 3rdin the 100 fly. Elora Paulson finished 3rd in the 100 breaststroke.  Alora Robbins swam to 2nd in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.90). Jordan Spencer finished in 3rd in the 100 backstroke.

Canby will be swimming at JV districts on Thursday February 7th at Lake Oswego HS and Varsity District and Mt Hood Community College Friday and Saturday February 8th and 9th.
